Group tennis coaching
At Wentworth Tennis, our experienced coaching team is committed to teaching all the essential technical and tactical fundamentals of tennis in a safe, engaging, and enjoyable environment. Our structured group lessons are designed to support each child’s development at their own pace while fostering a genuine love for the game. These group sessions are booked by the term and run in all weather conditions—rain, hail or shine—ensuring consistency and progression throughout the program. Classes are available Monday to Friday from 3pm onwards and on Saturday mornings, with each group limited to a maximum of six participants. This allows for plenty of individual attention while still maintaining a fun, social learning experience.
Each group lesson follows a carefully designed curriculum aimed at building sound stroke technique, footwork, coordination, and game sense. As players move through the various coloured ball stages—Mini, Red, Orange, Green, and eventually Yellow—they are introduced to age-appropriate skills and tactical awareness that prepare them for competitive match play. Our program follows Tennis Australia’s Hot Shots framework, using modified courts, nets, and balls to ensure that every child learns in a way that’s suited to their age and ability.
Mini and Red Ball classes focus on early skill development and coordination, with students working towards participating in Red Ball challenges—an exciting introduction to friendly competition. As they progress into Orange, Green, and Yellow Ball levels, children begin to understand rallying, point construction, and match tactics. These players are encouraged to take part in our weekly competitions and Round Robin Matchplay events to apply what they’ve learned in real-game scenarios. Across all levels, our goal is to nurture confident, capable players who are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and enthusiasm to enjoy tennis for years to come.
